Born in 1997, in the neighbourhood of Musgueira, Estraca is Portugal’s latest hip-hop promise and a breath of fresh air in Portuguese music. Very energetic, he is the type of MC that puts his soul into his work when mixing rhymes and his explosive flow. This young rapper from Lumiar, became recognised in mid-2012 when he was only 14 years old, and has already released two mixtapes and two albums. Estraca made his debut in 2013 with the mixtape “Ouve e Respeita”, and reinforced his musical presence in 2014 with “Histórias”. In 2015, he became the lead singer of JAZZOPA, a band that combines jazz and hip hop. In this same year, Estraca also participated in the international project “Roots and Ways of Cultural Diversity in Music” (Serbia and Italy) and “Music for Human Rights” in Israel and Germany, taking Portuguese music overseas. His collaboration with Puntzkapuntz and Farra Fanfarra started in 2016 and this was also when he started his own band, bringing a new style and sound to his instrumentals, and released his first album “Compilação” in a physical support. He released his second homonym album “Estraca” in 2018 that includes Madkutz and Charlie Beats’ productions and has a strong social awareness component where the young artist addresses everyday topics like cancer, social housing districts, unemployment, corruption or politics. Estraca released his new single “Trajectória” in July 2018 that confirmed his positioning as one of the most relevant artists of this new generation of Portuguese hip hop singers and that catapulted him towards an intense summer. Judging by the success of the single “BoomBap”, released in the beginning of 2019, this year will be no different.
